Perkins Grant Consortium
ESU #3 manages the Perkins Consortium for 10 area school districts. The Perkins Grant provides federal funds to support innovative practices, equipment, instructional materials, and professional development for career and technical education programs focusing on the Nebraska Career Clusters: Agriculture, Business, Communication, Health Sciences, Human Sciences, and Skilled/Technical Sciences.
The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) was signed into law by President Trump on July 31, 2018. This bipartisan measure reauthorized the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins IV) and continued Congress’ commitment in providing nearly $1.3 billion annually for career and technical education (CTE) programs for our nation’s youth and adults. Perkins V represents an important opportunity to expand opportunities for every student to explore, choose, and follow career and technical education programs of study and career pathways to earn credentials of value.

This coming year every school district and community college must update their reVISION comprehensive local needs assessment to remain eligible for Perkins funding and Perkins-funded projects. reVISION ensures local CTE programs create success for students and employers and is used as the foundation for local CTE implementation across Nebraska. To help complete the process, the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education has streamlined and updated the reVISION Workbook to assist in analyzing and reflecting on the six elements of the process.
